Musselburgh Requests BHA For Permission To Host Trial Races Ahead Of Cheltenham Festival 2019

Musselburgh has requested special approval to stage their Cheltenham Trials Day prior to the Cheltenham Festival 2019. It's East Lothian track biggest NH race.

Because of the recent equine influenza outbreak as well as the bad climate, this race was postponed two times already. It was arranged last February 10th, with a record-breaking prize money of more than £165,000 despite being held in only one day. However, the BHA decide to place horse races under lockdown for six days, and the fixture failed to push through.

Now that the lockdown has been ordered over, everybody at Musselburgh is excited to host the Cheltenham Racing Trials once more after all of its cancellations several times. Racecourse boss Bill Farnsworth announced that the British Horseracing Authority had promised to assist in this affair by supplying additional opportunities in the future. However, they are only giving some cards with additional races as of the moment.

Farnsworth also said that the British Horseracing Authority has approved to stage the fixtures on February 23rd because the vaccinated horses will be finally qualified to join. If their requested substitute race can be staged on February 22nd, Musselburgh can give their most excellent shot for the Cheltenham Festival Trials. Additionally, it's also a tremendous help for them because they already missed a number of races in the northern region.

Farnsworth said the Trial Races is a major part in preparing for the Cheltenham Festival 2019 every year where a huge number of individuals attend.
